Gli MTV EMA 2012 che si sono conclusi alla Festhalle di Francoforte hanno decretato la vincita di Taylor Swift e Justin Bieber i quali si sono aggiudicati tre premi a testa. Trionfo anche per Carly Rae Jepsen nelle categorie Best Song e Best Push Act, grazie alla canzone Call Me Maybe. Tra i vincitori, agli MTV EMA 2012, anche i One Direction che oltre al premio nella categoria Best UK & Ireland Act hanno aggiunto quello come New Act e Biggest Fans. Successo anche per il rapper coreano PSY che con il tormentone Gangnam Style si è aggiudicato il premio come Best Video del 2012 superando tutti i record di visualizzazioni su Youtube.
